 Paper Parade June 29 - July 2

In this 4 day week we will adventure into the wonderful world of humble paper, transforming it through our imaginations and various crafting techniques into spectacular works of art. We will start out our first day preparing pulp out of recycled paper to form into handmade and shaped pieces of paper. We'll also make our own sketchbooks for the week to fill with our ideas for a bigger project of crafting unique creature costumes from cardboard and other everyday materials which will be worn in the Chesterfield 4th of July parade on Saturday morning for all who can participate. Along the way we will play many games incorporating paper - making spontaneous costumes out of toilet paper, paper towels and tubes, making 3D worlds out of paper scraps and playing collaborative drawing games in which we create fantastical figures. The week should open ideas for kids which are immediate, accessible and economic, giving them tools to carry their artistic practices forward while just having a lot of fun!  Paper Parade is run by Molly Smith with support from Cyndy Sperry 9:30-3 $400 ages 7-11, max 12

Off Road W/Frog & Toad July 7-10

Come and immerse yourself in the hilarious world of frog and toad.  Make frog and toad masks, create sketchbooks, and build a small scale Frog and Toad world--their homes, their gardens, mailboxes, swimming streams and snowy hilltops.  We will make skits with sock puppets and bake delicious Frog and Toad cookies.  And of course do all the other usual Sugarhill adventures--woodsy hikes with our dogs, scootering through mazes, backyard games and lots of storytelling!!  Cyndy and Joanna are thrilled to share their enthusiasm for these two best of pals with YOU!  Ages 4-8, 9:30-3. $400 max 12

The Hero or Heroine's Adventure July 21-24

This content is being developed and will be released in the next two weeks but it will be similar to Sugarhill programs  where a hero sets out on a quest and encounters challenges.  It probably will not be The Hobbit, Jason and the Golden Fleece or The Odyssey but it will involve making sketchbooks, puppets, murals, clay animals and building a world that shares the formula of the "hero's journey."  The Hero or Heroine's Adventure is for kids ages 6-11 who like a good story, making some art, overcoming mythical and wordly obstacles, doing skits and running around and playing games on the edge of a forest.  $400/4 days/max 12 Cyndy & Joanna

Minecraft Week July 27-31
Join us for a full week of Minecraft adventure! We will use nature, fabric, cardboard, plaster and more to create sculptures and murals of our favorite Minecraft creatures and scenes. Dive into the ever changing magical world of Minecraft caves, villages, epic creations and fantasy adventures. We will create our own Minecraft swords and pickaxes, sculpt creepers and skeletons and maybe even battle the Ender Dragon. This camp serves as a screen free opportunity to explore all things Minecraft, led by Ruby (long time Sugarhill participant and counselor) and Lila (from Brooklyn, Ny), two friends, with assistance from Cyndy, director of Sugarhill Art. 5 days at $450. Ages 6-10. Maximum 18. July 27th to 31st.

Make Art and learn Art History w/Cyndy,Joanna, &Jason
Date to be Determined

Travel with Cyndy and Joanna and Jason (friends from Grad School) for 6 days through southern Bavaria, Germany and into Austria, ending in Vienna.  We will draw and paint our way through southern Germany making stops for good food and spending evenings in cozy Gästhäuser.  We’ll visit the Alte & Neue Pinakothek and Glyptothek in Munich, where we’ll look at Durer’s famous self-portrait, the amazing vases of Exekias, and vibrant works from German Expressionism.  From Munich we will take the train to Murnau in the foothills of the Alps, home of Gabrielle Munter and for a time, Wasily Kandinsky.  On day 4 we will leave Murnau for Salzburg and spend our final two days traipsing around Vienna.  Leave your life behind for 7 days of sketching, painting, good conversations, food, wine and evening slideshows,
