REVENGE OF THE WHALE June 25-June 28
Sail back in time to New Bedford, MA where Captain Ahab’s ship the Pequod is about to debark to far away oceans. Follow the crew as they navigate the globe in search of the legendary Great White Whale, Moby Dick. Learn some sea chanteys, draw and paint underwater creatures, whittle a whale from wood, scrimshaw a piece of ivory (plaster) go deep into whale anatomy, and help create a very cool float for the Chesterfield 4th of July Parade that features some kayaking Zombies in a mash up with Hokusai waves and Moby Dick. Participants are strongly encouraged to join Sugarhill Art for the Chesterfield 4th of July parade (10 AM July 4) and help represent this never to be forgotten creation. Tuesday June 25-Friday June 28. 9:30-3, $400. Max 18 Ages 7-anyone who has been at Sugarhill and wants to make some wild art. Revenge of the Whale is full. FARM,FAIRY, and FOREST July 8-July 11
In this Sugarhill Art favorite kids will build barns and wagons, make clay animals and create magical gardens using all our favorite materials: sticks, plaster, paint, bark, and glue. We will read lots of great stories, play games, and take walks in the woods looking for animals and their homes. We will draw in charcoal, sharpy, and gel pens and explore new strategies for rendering horses, cows, and roosters. If it is really wet in our forest we will build a beaver dam. CIRCE ON THE ISLAND OF AEAEA July 16-19
Visit the magical island of Aeaea, home to the demi-god/witch Circe, daughter of the sun-god Helios, and transit stop for the Greek heroes Jason and Odysseus. Hear the story of Circe’s banishment by Zeus to this remote mediterranean island for turning the nymph, Scylla, into a horrible 6 headed monster. Create mosaics, ancient Greek vases, beautiful weavings, and drawings of mythical creatures, gods, and goddesses. Tuesday July 16-1Friday July 19. 9:30-3 $400 max 14 ages 6-10

Come paint, print, and sculpt with clay at Sugarhill Art. We’ll start with big brushes, large paper and a fabulous meandering still-life. Our initial creations will become a launchpad for new multimedia work. Cyndy and Joanna will show slides from art history, do demonstrations with new materials, and help everyone create an ideas sketchbook. Morning will be spent focusing on 2-D work, and in the afternoon we’ll pivot to clay. Bring your own lunch-we will serve afternoon tea. There will be time to talk about favorite artists and share creative ideas. Bring your favorite pens for doodling. maximum 8.

Travel with Cyndy and Joanna for 6 days through southern Bavaria, Germany and into Austria, ending in Vienna. We will draw and paint our way through southern Germany making stops for good food and spending evenings in cozy Gästhäuser. We’ll visit the Alte & Neue Pinakothek and Glyptothek in Munich, where we’ll look at Durer’s famous self-portrait, the amazing vases of Exekias, and vibrant works from German Expressionism. From Munich we will take the train to Murnau in the foothills of the Alps, home of Gabrielle Munter and for a time, Wasily Kandinsky. On day 4 we will leave Murnau for Salzburg and spend our final two days traipsing around Vienna. Leave your life behind for 7 days of sketching, painting, good conversations, food, wine and evening slideshows,
